Hummer & Son's Louisiana Honey is produced in several stages, each of which is critical to delivering the quality and flavor you expect from us. The first step is harvesting the honey from wildflowers. Hummer & Son harvests this honey twice each year: once in spring, when clover, willow, and harry vetch wildflowers are in bloom; and again in summer, when ratan, woods, vetch, sunflower, astor, and goldenrod wildflowers are at their peak.

Our honey bees are hard at work during both seasons—between 30,000 and 50,000 bees help produce our spring honeys while 100,000 to 150,000 bees create our darker summer honeys. We use these two harvests to make all of our products—from pure honey to creams and lotions!
